Did anybody else love the Oscars as much as I did? It had to be one of the best ceremonies that I've ever seen (and I've seen every single year since I was like, 7 yrs. old)
Hugh Jackman was the best Oscar host hands down. Not only was he sexy but he was also funny & talented. His opening "number" was incredible & when he said "and I'm wolverine" I screamedddd. lol. We all love X men & Wolverine in our house.
His big medley with Beyonce was also great. I heard that alot of people were "twittering" that she was lip-singing & all this stuff. Stop hating! lol. She's performing at the Oscars & you're not. Get over it.
Steve Martin & Tina Fey were funny presenters. Ben Stiller was showing out during his presentation, putting gum on the stand & not paying attention. lol! I apparently missed the "look" that Brad & Angie gave when Jennifer Aniston was presenting. And Queen Latifah killed the song for the "In Memoriam" tribute.
My favorite thing besides Hugh Jackman was the way they had the past winners present & honor this year's nominees. That was the best change that I've seen within the Oscars itself. It was beautiful, touching & oh so appropriate. Loved it! Also loved the set design; the crystals were gorgeous.
I was really rooting for Brad Pitt to win Best Actor cuz he reallllyyyyy deserves one but I wasn't mad that Sean Penn won. He's great & it's well overdue for him too. I'm biased because I haven't seen Slumdog Millionaire but I didn't want them to win Best Picture. lol. I'm sure I'll love it once I watch it so I'm bittersweet about it.
We haven't seen The Reader but I'm sure Kate Winslet deserved the Best Actress win. She's so humble & grateful that it was good to see her get it. Benjamin Button didn't win the big awards but they won Visual Effects, Art Direction & Make up so I'm happy for the crew. They did an awesome job with the movie.
All in all, I missed parts of the show cuz I was cooking but those were my highlights. Oh, and I watched like an hour of the red carpet then fell asleep & woke back up for the main event. Here are my favorite dresses for the night:

HANH NEEDS YOU TO DO THIS. IT'S FUN!
I thought this was pretty funny. You should try it!
Replace my name with yours. Make sure you put quotes around "YOUR NAME
1) Hanh needs a 3 wheel motorbike. (lol! Um... I guess so. Haven't ridden a bike since Elem. school)
2) Hanh needs an old housing problem. (Uh, no thanks)
3) Hanh needs music for healing journeys. (Amen! Music does heal)
4) Hanh needs new haven independent. (I already have it. Yay)
5) Hanh needs pics. (I sure do need to upload some from... um... last yr.?)
6) Hanh needs a little work. (hahahaha. That is true. That's a teacher evaluation for a kid in Philly by the way. She's me re-incarnated. haha. And that's so wrong how you can access that online. Dangggg. Telling that little girl's business.)
7) Hanh needs a new job. (Not unless it pays me more than $30 an hour. Otherwise I'm good)
8) Hanh needs to clean the litter box. (I don't have a cat. I need to clean my backyard though.)
9) Hanh needs to go to New Orleans monday morning. (Sure why not? Unless it's cold & rainy there.)
10) Hanh needs no introduction. (Hell yea!)
The end. That was FUNNNNN. :-D

A FAMILY TRAGEDY
"NORCROSS, Ga -- "I love my daughter. I love my daughter, but I love my wife," said 58-year-old Gold Pak. His emotions are torn for his wife of 38 years and the daughter now accused of murdering her.
Pak, his wife, two daughters and a son came here from South Korea nearly 30 years ago. All but the oldest daughter have shared a town home in Norcross for the past five years.
The yard still shows scorch marks from an unthinkable act that has devastated them all.
Tuesday afternoon the youngest daughter, Na Yong Pak, 32, doused her mother with gasoline and set her on fire. Her mother, Myong Hui Pak, 58, died of her injuries about 10 hours later.
Her family took several photos of her final moments in Grady Memorial Hospital's burn unit. They asked 11Alive News to show them to help tell their story. Specifically, to help convey her final wishes about her daughter.
Her husband says his wife was aware of what her daughter had done, but still forgave her.
"She said, 'I love Na. Don't put her in jail'," Gold Pak told me during an interview sitting on the floor of the family's town home.
He says his daughter started showing signs of mental illness about three years ago. She began beating her mother, convinced her food was being poisoned.
Pak says his wife kept the beatings a secret at first to protect their daughter, who she hoped would get better.
Police finally arrested Na Yong Pak for attacking her mother last fall. She was sent to Georgia Regional Medical Center for evaluation in early December.
The state mental hospital released her just two weeks ago over her family's objections. They didn't think it was safe for her to come home.
"That's not normal," Pak told me, insisting she should have been kept for more treatment.
Now Pak is haunted by the murder charge against his mentally troubled daughter and by his dying wife's wish that Na Yong be forgiven and get more treatment.
"I love Na," her father said. "I still love her."
State officials say privacy laws won't allow them to discuss Na Yong Pak's case. But the family admits she refused to take her prescribed medication or return for followup treatments.
The family has set up a fund to help pay their funeral expenses.
Donations may be sent to the Myong Hui Pak Funeral Fund care of The Center for Pan Asian Community Services, Inc., 3760 Park Avenue, Doraville, GA 30340, telephone number 770-936-0969."
Hanh: OH. MY. GOD... I couldn't believe this story. It devastated me as if they were my own family. There's so many factors going on. If the daughter was sane & killed her then it would be so easy to lock her up without a key. But she wasn't & now the dad doesn't want her to go to prison because that's his daughter, you know? What a complicated tragedy. I feel a trillion times so bad for them.
And the fact that the daughter started beating up on the mom 3 years ago & she kept quiet to protect her? THAT is crazy. Not trying to be culturally biased as I'm sure Americans would too, but that is definitely an Asian thing. For your parents to not call the authorities on you even if you do them harm because they don't want you to go to prison? That's definitely culture. It's also mainly because they don't want to stain their family image & feel embarrassed by their judgmental peers.
Man. I'm in such disbelief over this story. I could never imagine even arguing with my mom, let alone killing her. May God (or Buddha) watch over Myong Hui Pak & let her rest in peace. Bless her soul & bless her heart.

THE SICK, THE IRATE & THE IDIOT
I'm feeling slightly crappy today. Every single person around me is sick. Actor & his brother is sick, half of my coworkers are sick, especially the one in the cube next to me who's coming down with the flu & another one who just came back from the flu. I've been feeling a little worse everyday but refuse to acknowledge or give in to it because I REFUSE TO GET SICK. I haven't been dramatically sick in a veryyyyy long time & plan on keeping it that way. I woke up around 5am this morning just to drink some OJ cuz my throat was clogging up & went back to sleep. Like I said, refuse to get sick.
I had some Airborne but it's been in my purse for awhile & all of this lint somehow got in the bottle so I really don't wanna drink it. You know I'm anal about stuff like that. I heard about the law suit against them too. How everyone got their money back? I don't know if it's a placebo effect but I think it works. I used to take it all the time & never got sick... I heard some people are swearing by Emergen-C now so I might try it...
On another note, check this out:
"BARNSTABLE, Mass. – A Massachusetts man who walked into a police station and asked for help removing a pair of handcuffs dangling from one wrist ended up wearing another pair instead.
Police Sgt. Sean Sweeney said 21-year-old Allahmanamjad (el-ah-MAN'-a-jahd) Barbel showed up Tuesday claiming he couldn't get off the cuffs his sister slipped on him at a child's birthday party.
Police ran Barbel's name through the state warrant system and discovered he had outstanding warrants on charges of driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident, threatening to commit a crime and making annoying phone calls.
Sweeney said police removed the cuffs — then slipped on a new pair to arrest him.
They never confirmed his story about the party."
Hanh: Uh... 1st of all, did they really have to put the pronunciation of his name? haha. And what an idiot! Are you serious?! You didn't know that you had some warrants? lol! Why would you even go to the cop for that? Darwin's Law man. Darwin's Law.
And speaking of cops, here's another fun one:
"Authorities said a man, 66, was arrested after calling 911 on Saturday to complain that a fast food restaurant ran out of lemonade. After a drive-through employee failed to respond to the man's threat of contacting the police, the irate diner called 911, a police report alleges. He spent about 5 minutes talking to the 911 operator about his complaint.
Boynton Beach said the man was charged with abuse of 911 communication."
Hanh: Aww poor man. Ya'll thought he was playing huh? He don't have time for that foolishness! He's serious bout that lemonade. Lol! Better get some more before he comes back!

2009 GRAMMYS
Happy Monday everyone!
Did anyone else see the Grammys last night? There were some hot performances weren't there? I was watching it inbetween bbq-ing outside. lol.
I didn't know until after the show that Chris Brown & Rihanna had cancelled their appearances/ performance but now everything makes sense. It's all over the news so if you haven't heard by now: they missed it cuz he got arrested for domestic violence. No one knows who the victim is but all the entertainment sources are pointing to Rihanna.
Both of them were supposed to perform but since they were MIA the schedule had to be re-arranged. Justin Timberlake & Al Green's performance was good but I could tell that it was totally unprepared like an impromptu thing. Turns out they had to fill the spot for Rihanna's performance of "Live Your Life" & "Disturbia."
I didn't care one bit about Miley Cyrus' & Taylor Swift's performance. Guess that was for the kids. Then again, how many kids are watching the Grammys? Go figure.
But oh how I loved Robin Thicke's & Lil Wayne's performance. That is my fav. male musician of the moment (RT.) I've been blasting his album over & over ever since I got it for my birthday.
And did anybody else feel extra uncomfortable when MIA was performing with the "RAP PACK?" lol. Man she was moving a little bit too much for me to be due the same day. Ugh! lol. She was all dirty looking & her hair was messed up. Much props to her though. That girl has great work ethics. Who would pass up the chance to perform with Jay, Tip, Ye & Wayne anyway? At the Grammys no less? I would have been up there too. Shoot...
And don't you kind of question why some people were there? Like Michelle Kwan? lol. What the hell were you doing there? Guess she has some musician friends... Not trying to hate but she was looking extra fobbish & her grill was all crooked when they zoomed in. You'd think with all that money you'd get your teeth fixed by now. Some people just never cease to amaze me.
To end on a good note, here are some of my favorite dresses:
Despite the too dark tan, this dress was hot. Her hair & make up was perfect too.
Love the dress but not the hair
Love dresses with these bottoms
Like the colors but not the halter top
Like the design but not the color
I dunno why she gets so much bad criticism. The dress is nice although the jewelry might be a little too much.

HAPPY FRIDAY
Happy Friday my lovely internet geeks :-)
Boy am I gladdddddddddddd it is. Whew! Long week! I'm ready to go home, relax, catch up on shows & movies & watch the Grammys this weekend. If you didn't know it's coming on this Sunday Feb. 8th at 8pm on CBS.
We watched Zack & Miri Make a Porno last night. It was funny. hahahaha. This is the 2nd movie that I've seen with Seth Rogen & Craig Robinson together. They are a trip! And Elizabeth Banks is silly & beautiful. It was a very vulgar & explicit movie but it was funny. No you couldn't actually see anything but the girl's boobies during the "shoot" if you were wondering.
I made meatloaf for the 1st time last night. It turned out pretty well besides the fact that I wanted turkey instead of ground beef. The store didn't have any so boo them.
I'm kind of exhausted so can't think of much else to say but... enjoy your weekend & I'll talk to you soon.

25 RANDOM THINGS
You know the rules: Write your own 25 random things. Pass it along biatches!
1) I really don't know what to say so I'lll start with... my favorite flowers are calla lillies & orchids. I love any flower really. If I could get fresh flowers once every 2 weeks I'd be a happy Asian.
2) I loved my 2nd grade teacher (Ms. Moskowitz.) Never forget her. She & my P.E teacher got me really intrigued about the Holocaust. Still am. Speaking of I still gotta see Valkyrie.
3) I didn't like my 3rd grade teacher (Mrs. Kehoe.) She said I talked too much. I always got Student of the Month every year cuz my teachers loved me but she didn't give it to me that year & she told me that was the reason why. *middle finger*
4) I'm a very competitive person. Whatever I do I wanna be the best & do my best.
5) Which leads to me being a perfectionist. Half perfectionist half CSI agent. I know when people have touched my things. Even when they try to put it back like it hasn't been moved.
6) I hate when people break my things. I don't think I've ever broken anything that I had of value. I take really good care of my stuff. Destroy your own shat. Leave mine alone!
7) I'm starting to become more & more like my parents. Which is half good half bad.
8) I can cook really well & I love cooking new things. I get it from my dad. He can taste something & tell you all of the ingredients that was used to make it. Then he'll make the same dish using Viet ingredients. lol.
9) I have really good aim. Don't get caught on the other side of the trigger.
10) I think I was an assassin in my past life. And a really good one.
11) I used to be terrified of dogs. Now I love all of them. Brando's my 1st dog ever & I love him to death.
12) My biggest fear are snakes. I stepped on one barefoot when I was little.
13) I have no trouble saying no to people. I used to but I got tired of helping people who won't help themselves.
14) My lifelong goals are to win an Oscar, travel the world, have happy, healthy kids & enough money to last my family for generations so they won't ever have to struggle.
15) I hate the fact that you have to be cordial & political. If you don't like someone you shouldn't have to be nice to them. Respect & not kill them yes, but nice, ehh. And to even have to talk to them. Ugh!
16) I used to love the Spice Girls in Elem. school & decided that my American name would be Victoria. My ex sister-in-law still calls me Victoria to this day. I don't think she knows my real name.
17) I'm really good at creative arts projects. I love drawing, painting, making cards, stockings & anything else I can think of.
18) I got a tattoo in 10th grade & my mom still doesn't know that I have one. When she used to see it I'd be like "It's a sticker or henna tat." lol
19) I've dated one Asian guy in my entire life. It lasted 3 days. And I ignored him the whole time. Needless to say that didn't work out.
20) I like to see people get tased, chased, slammed & hurt. Very entertaining.
21) I say my prayers every night before I go to bed & every morning on the way to work.
22) Babies make everything better. So does a dinner & a movie
23) My 5th grade teacher Mr. Cofield looked just like Martin Luther King. He was one of my favorites.
24) I actually love my job. There's some crappy days but for the most part... The other day I walked past my coworker's cube & started running in slow motion. lol. It was fun.
25) I'm usually aware of my surroundings. My coworkers have this thing where they like to jump out & scare each other. No one's gotten me yet. I also always make a note of the exits whenever I go anywhere. Hey gotta have an escape plan in case something happens.

UNDERDOGS COULDN'T QUITE GET IT
Friday night was an uneventful night. My girls called & tried to convince me to go to the club with them to no avail. Note to friends: I hate clubs. And I don't go anywhere on Friday night unless I'm already out & about. If I've already gone home then I'm probably in for the night. There's exceptions when I'm given a heads up about an event or something but if I'm not informed until the last minute then I probably won't go. Nothing personal but I've worked hard all week & just wanna go home, relax & catch up on my shows & movies.
Saturday was fun. We got up at 12:30pm to catch the cable company (before they closed at 1pm) to switch our box for an HD box. (I haven't watched the tv since we're had it. Busy weekend...) We came home, hooked up the box & went back to sleep. haha. Woke up at about 6pm & got dressed for our friend Chocolate Chip's birthday party at a far far awayyyyy bar.
Went to Subway on our way there (we don't like to eat at bars or parties unless we know the host very well.) Boy am I glad we did. The bar was so freaking packed! Everyone & their mama was there to see Georges St. Pierre & BJ Penn fight for UFC night. Our party was big so half of us didn't even have a table at 1st. We had to wait for people to leave to get one. Then they didn't have any menus. Or glasses. lol. It was cool though. Actor got some Grand Marnier & I got a Malibu & Cran & we were straight for the night.
I love watching UFC & it was definitely popping. There were a few notables in my book: Jon Jones kicked ass with his elbow. lol. He's an upcoming beast. And the knock out of the night? Whew! Lyoto Machida should not be effed with! Knock out 1st round. Holla at him. And it was crazy cuz he's a little older & didn't look as fit as Thiago Silva but he knocked his ass out! I was waiting for it too. Whew!
And boy was the main event of the night disappointing... I thought it was gonna be a way better (and equal) fight but GSP whooped Penn's ass man. I was neutral but then started rooting for Penn cuz he was the underdog. And he just couldn't deliver or recover. He was NOT as in shape as he should've been. You're going against GSP you BETTER be in the best shape of your LIFE buddy. But he wasn't & GSP slammed him to the ground every single round & beat the shat out of him. But I gotta give Penn props cuz at least he went for 4 rounds without getting knocked out. He sure as hell has a granite chin. lol. Any other person would've been knocked out by the end of round 1.
Sunday we didn't get out of bed till like 5pm. lol. We were up but just lounging around talking & watching tv in bed. Headed to Slim's house for his youngest son's birthday party & to watch the Superbowl. All in all it was a decent game. The only fun parts were when James Harrison ran the 100 yd. interception return for the touchdown. I was going for Cardinals (underdog) but we all screamed. It was crazyyyyy. And at the end when Cardinals got that touch down. lol. But there was too much time on the clock & the Steelers definitely deserved the win so... I didn't really care either way.
We didn't really watch the commercials or the half time show; it started getting boring in the middle. Instead we turned on YouTube & was cracking up at Chris Rock's "Kill the Messenger" stand up. haha. He's a fool! I heard that everyone was disappointed that Bruce Springsteen didn't do "Born in the USA" though.
Oh yea, we missed Jennifer Hudson singing the anthem but I heard it on the radio this morning & it was great. One of the best ever done. My coworker said that he was almost in tears when she finished. And I've never seen him cry. lol
All in all this weekend in sports was kinda disappointing for me. Both the underdogs I went for lost. I guess that's why they're the underdogs. Well, keep at it & go harder next time guys. Whoo!
