THE C WORD

My coworker lost her battle to gall bladder cancer today. She was only diagnosed months ago & was reacting so well to chemo & all of a sudden doctors said she had 24 hrs to live on Monday.

She hung on all the way until today.

I was closer to her than most of my other coworkers. Despite the generation gap & noticable age difference she understood me & I her.

She was a beloved woman & I pray for her & her family. I know she's in a better place now...

She was always strong & full of life & personality. She was 69 so I hope that life was all that she thought it would be when she was a little girl. It doesn't matter how old you are; sometimes life just isn't long enough.

It's hard to write much more about her because I still can't embrace the fact that she's gone...

Farewell my Nellie. I will always miss you

I'm backkkkk

Woww. I haven't blogged in so long I forgot my password. Smh.
Anyhoos, feels like yrs have passed since we last talked cuz soooo much has happened. I don't even know where to start...

Guess I'll do highlights then get into more details gradually.

In the last 5 months:
- My parents retired & moved out of state. It's bittersweet for me: I'm happy for them cuz they can relax & not have to work anymore but I'm also sad that I can't go see them as often. It's definitely one of those things that you don't value until it's gone... or far away.

- Actor had his 26th bday and it had to be his best party thus far. We had a house party at one of our friend's townhouse and everybody & their mama showed up. Well, no moms but u know what I mean. Lol.
We pulled out all the stops for decoration: red carpet up the stairs, red lights, streamers, 2 cakes and etc. It was definitely a memorable night. And somehow I don't have any pictures. Think I was too busy hosting to take any.

- I had a photo shoot for my girl's hair portfolio. We wore all black & she did our hair & make up. The pix turned out pretty cool & there are still more coming once they go through the editing process.
So if you're ever in Atl & need to get your hurrr did holla at Joy Tolentino. She's THE best hairstylist in the city. No lie. I'm very picky & she's the only person I'll let do my hair. Check her work out at Flickr. Search for "sokaiokyoon"

It's also the link to photographer KaiYoon. He's a great up & coming. Watch out for him.

- I also shot an extra part for a movie that Actor's a lead in. It was fun! They should be premiering it soon. Yeee!

- My dog has THE worst case of fleas this summer. According to the vets this is one of the biggest flea season they've ever seen. We gave him a flea bath, collar & drops and he STILL has fleas. Gotta spray the yard next. But hopefully when it gets colder they'll go away.
Well enough rambling for the day. What have you guys been up to?

I hung out with my mommy on Saturday instead of Sunday. And we didn't really consider it a "Mother's Day" event cuz my parents don't celebrate any American holidays. lol. We were just talking, laughing & she caught me up on all of her friends' (whom I don't know) business. So I was just like "Oh, ok..." lol. Don't care what we talk about or do. I just like being around her. She makes me feel peaceful.

I made Bre's mom a cool Mother's Day card (that took forever cuz I was watching the Hawks vs. Cavs game & getting pissed off.) I would post it on here but I forgot to take a picture of it like a dummy.

Anyhoos, I woke up to my own handmade Mother's Day card from my doggy Brando :-D Actor made it for me. It had Happy Mother's Day on the outside & Brando's paw on the inside. Best card I've ever gotten.

Actor had to draw & cut all of the letters for the card out individually & said that he has so much respect for my card business now. Said it took him forever & he could barely cut out the letters & make it look good/ neat. I make all of my cards from scratch. I draw & cut out everything from the letters to the pictures & etc. Usually takes me 1-2 hrs. for one card.

It's pretty cool for people to try to do what you do & realize it's not as easy as it looks. I bet if I tried to write a rap song for him it would come out jacked up. Or I'd stick to what most rappers do nowadays & just do rhyming sentences with absolutely no word play, whack deliveries & off key singing. Oops, did I just sneek a diss in there? That would be a yes...

Anyhoos, on Sunday we took Actor's mom out to this sea food restaurant. I don't really do the whole Captain D's fried seafood deal but this was a greatttt restaurant. Definitely not fast food. I ordered this sampler plate of different fried seafoods & MANNNNNNNN. When I tell you that they brought out the plate & it was stack like half a foot tall? I am NOT LYING. I should've taken a picture of it. I've been slacking on my camera duty. Geesh.

I thought they were gonna give me 1 or 2 pc of each thing but I had like a gazillion big pieces of fish, jumbo shrimp, deviled crab, oysters, and Lord knows what else... And their hush puppies were shaped like onion rings & were the diameter of a baseball. lol. I'm not even kidding!

Me & Actor had 3 to go boxes of leftovers. Yea.... THAT much food.

All in all it was a great Mother's Day weekend. I hope everyone spent time with your moms and/or loved ones who are like moms.

Be blessed

HAWKS, HATTON & KFC

Man it's been a crazy couple of weeks. I barely have time to blog anymore. Boo me. Shameless to say I've actually been on Twitter lately so most of my updates have been on there. Follow me @hanhnybun if you want.

Anyhoos, here's a quick recap of everything I've been meaning to write for the last couple:

~ Why do people go crazyyy when something is free? Last week KFC gave away a piece of grilled chicken & I heard that it was mad chaos. I'm glad I missed that. This week apparently Oprah is giving away a free 2 piece meal at KFC & apparently everybody & their mama is getting their chicken ON. I went to KFC today not knowing about the giveaway & was freaking trapped in the parking lot! UGH! I didn't even want it as soon as I saw the line of cars wrapped around the drive through & the parking lot. But I couldn't even get out! Cars were every which way in & out of the parking lot in every direction. It was freaking gridlocked! IN A PARKING LOT. WTF?!

And even the inside was wrapped around to outside. OUTSIDE. Mannnn. Whoever is PR/ Marketing for KFC should get a big ass raise. Got Oprah to join the grilled chicken train. Props to you!

~ After I finally got out of the parking lot, tell me why I went to Wendy's & asked for McNuggets?... FAILED

~ Tell me why a hispanic person (I don't know man or woman as I didn't see them) just got rushed out on a stretcher in the business next to ours? Which is a hispanic business might I add? And on a tangent, tell my why I read in the news a couple of days ago that there are 2 swine flu cases in Metro Atlanta now. One where I work & one where I live. How convenient. AND the case where I work the family refused treatment & wasn't quarantined but instead told to stay at home until they got better. WHAT?! I didn't know that that was an option! How can you deny treatment to something that you know you're sick with? That's just insanity to me, but who am I to judge right?

So excuse me if I'm all swine flu paranoid right now if someone in the same building as me has to be rushed out on a stretcher. I'm hoping it's not worst case scenario. *crosses fingers*

~ One of the coworkers that I actually liked quit Friday. And I just found out yesterday. I didn't even get to say bye! Moped... My last conversation with her was when I thought she was going out for an appointment. She said bye & I said "Where are you going?" as in "Which appt. are you going to?" and she said "I don't know" & hugged me & that was it.

Looking back now I see how she would've thought that I knew. Boo. How come the people that I don't like are still here? haha.

~ I'm trying to tone up for the beach. Me & Actor are going with my sister & her fam. It'll be the 1st time that my sis & Actor meet so I'm excited about that. And I REFUSE to wear a bikini if I'm not toned by then.

~ We watched the unrated version of Hitman last night. It was popping as hell. Dunno why people gave it bad reviews. Maybe cuz they showed the rated version at the theaters. But if you've already seen it watch it again with the unrated version. It was realllly good.

~ I bought 180 VHS tapes for $30. haha. Don't ask. I had to buy a VCR to even watch them. But it's been so fun catching up on old movies that I've never seen before. I.E. Matrix. Dances With Wolves. Conspiracy Theory, etc. Yes I've never seen the Matrix till this yr. Don't judge me! I went to see Matrix 2 when it came out but fell asleep cuz my date was boring.

~ Did anyone see the Pacquiao/ Hatton fight? MANNNNNNNNN. I already knew Hatton was going down but I don't think ANYBODY thought it was gonna be that quick. Lol! As soon as Pacquiao knocked him down the 1st time in the 1st round I knew it was over. I KNEW Hatton was going down in the 2nd round. DEFINITELY. Should've betted but I forgot to.

~ And Pacquiao vs. Mayweather? I'm sorry but I've got my money on Mayweather. I love both of them & they're both quick & strong but I think Mayweather is stronger. Now if only he would stop talking so much shit... But that's gonna be a GREAT fight. And I will be watching :-)

~ We watched game 7 of the Hawks vs. Heat & was so happy that the Hawks won. Mannn we were so crunk on a Sunday. lol! I feel so bad for them though cuz there's probably no way that they're going through King James. I missed the 1st game but hope they win at least one game with the Cavs.

~ We went to eat Pho (Vietnamese cuisine) after the game. It was delicious! I actually got Pho instead of the Vermicelli dish that I usually get. Yummm

SHOPLIFTERS, BABIES & CHICKEN WINGS

"MONTCALM COUNTY, Mich. – A western Michigan man helped deliver his wife's baby boy despite not knowing she was pregnant. The Grand Rapids Press reported the man called 911 early Thursday as his wife was in labor. The man told the dispatcher that he had not known his 27-year-old wife was pregnant. He said they recently quit smoking and thought her recent weight gain was related.

The couple has two children, and the mother has an additional child from a previous relationship.

Following the successful delivery, the dispatcher talked the man through post-birth procedures. The child was taken to a local hospital."

Hanh: Okkkkkkkkk. How do you not know that she was pregnant? If you gain weight it's not gonna be all in the stomach you dummy! lol! Plus it probably ain't yours if she didn't tell you about it. *sighs* I'm glad the baby is healthy though. I'll pray for you guys.

"NEWARK, Del. – Police said a 22-year-old man broke into an apartment to steal $82 worth of chicken wings and Hot Pockets. Police arrested the man on Wednesday and charged him with breaking into the apartment last month. Detectives said two people were sleeping inside their apartment about 3 a.m. on March 18 when the man broke in.

Police used video surveillance systems at the apartment complex to help identify the suspect. Police said one of the stolen frozen food items was found at his home and he was arrested. Police said he tried to enter six other apartments but the doors were locked."

Hanh: LMFAO. $82 worth of wings & Hot Pockets. hahahahahaha... How'd they know the ones that they found at his house were stolen? He obviously likes them & probably had his own.... Right..... ?

"PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – Authorities said two Port St. Lucie women tried to steal nearly $200 worth of merchandise from a Wal-Mart but got caught because they left packets of recently developed pictures in their abandoned shopping carts.

Police said a self-checkout cashier noticed two women scan and pay for $70 worth of items Thursday, but the bagged groceries in their carts appeared worth much more. When the cashier asked to see their receipt, the women took off.

Among all the merchandise that hadn't been paid for, store officials found two packets of recently developed pictures. The cashier identified the women in the photos, and the name and phone number on the envelopes turned out to belong to one of the women.
Both women face retail theft charges."

Hanh: Don't these ppl watch "World's Dumbest Criminals" on TruTv? UGH!

24 PACK OF SHARPIES. IN DIFFERENT COLORS. *drools*

Somebody tell me why I get excited over any new thing that I get? lol. I don't care if it's a new eraser I'm like yes! Hey, I appreciate even the little things in life ok? Don't judge me!

Every month we order office supplies from Staples & when they come in all of us are excited cuz we get new pens & Post-Its. haha. We all hover in the supply room & rummage through the new boxes to see what we can stash in our cubes. Oh the fun times.

My coworker, I'll call him "Christmas" cuz that's his favorite holiday, is in charge of ordering the supplies & he always has everything that I didn't even know that I wanted. Like today I asked him to order different color Sharpies & he brought me some like 2 minutes later. haha. I'm like how do you just have that randomly lying around? A 24 pack at that.

And tell me why my excited butt took a piece of printer paper & wrote an H in every single color to test it out? haha. AND not to mention the fact that my OCD butt arranged the Hs in "same color" families on the paper. I swear I have way too much time on my hands. Not really but somehow I find time...

And I love my other coworker too. I'll call her "Work Guru" cuz she knows just about everything. Anytime I don't know something about work, life, legal procedures, or how to take care of my dog she's the one. I swear she knows EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING. If she doesn't then she can find out.

They make my day go by quicker cuz we have so much fun at work. I hope everyone can have or get to the point where they can enjoy their coworkers as much as I do :-)

Happy Hump Day!

WHEN THINGS BREAK

Man it's been a messed up week! My camera (which I've only had since Christmas) broke. I turned it on & the screen was completely white. Like, I can still see the images on the screen but it was covered by a white coat. I tried troubleshooting everything to no avail :-(

Then my freaking "check engine" light came on in my car. Actor checked under the hood & turns out the motor mount (which I just got replaced in August) was defective, rotten, fell apart & pieces got stuck at the bottom of the engine. He had to get a hanger to pry it up.

Now if you know me I hate when things break, especially if I didn't even cause it. But, being the problem solver that I am put a resolution into action instead of complaining & being sorry about it. Well, I did complain a little, but that's besides the point. haha.

So I found my receipts (I keep all of my documents & even copies) for the camera & service & turns out I still had warranty on both things. Whoo hoo! Sent the camera back Monday & they're done fixing it & are shipping it back to me as we speak. Kodak has the best customer service & turnaround time. Props to them!

The "check engine" light went off so we think it was just a slight momentarily malfunction. Cuz the motor mount has nothing to do with the emissions system, which is usually what is wrong when your check engine light comes on. Like your catalytic converter or thermostat or something. Hey, don't look at me like I'm crazy. I know way more about cars than you think. hehe. I used to stand in the shop with my dad & watched as the mechanics fixed our cars. I like to know how to do things.

Actor & I took the car to the shop yesterday & they bought the part & replaced it within an hour of me getting there. Love them too. They be hooking me up! They're my dad's mechanics. My dad got connections man. We're always joking about how we think he's in the mafia cuz anytime he needs anything done he gets it. Like, with a snap. When their house got broken into the lowlives kicked the door out of the frame & completely destroyed it. My dad got home, looked at it, made a phone call & a friend of a friend came straight from work to fix the door. Within like an hour. Put it all back together free of charge. Just like that. AND he went & bought a replacement door & put that on for him a few days later too.

We were telling Q about the service last night & I was like "Man I wish I had my dad's connections. That thing is great!" Actor said "You do! Through him. Man, you're like the Mafia boss' daughter & I'm the guy from the streets that they took in as family or something." I said "Nah, I'm the boss' daughter & you're the hot gardener that's banging my mom." haha. "Eww, gross. Why can't I be a simple regular civilian that's involved with the boss' daughter." "Cuz... you're supposed to be the hot plumber or milk man man."

I dunno. We're slow. Don't judge us. haha

SOME PEOPLE...

FORT PIERCE, Fla. – What would you do for a Klondike bar? Authorities said a man shoved an ice cream bar down his pants and then offered a Texaco station store owner $69 not to turn him in for shoplifting. The owner told police that a 65-year-old man tried to sneak the Klondike bar, along with packages of Ramen noodles and Famous Amos cookies, out of the store without paying Tuesday night.

When the store owner confronted the man as he tried the leave the store, the owner reported that the man pulled the flattened ice cream snack out of his back pocket and offered the owner $69 for it.

The owner called police, and the man was charged with retail theft and violation of probation charges. He was being held on $500 bail.

Hanh: *shakes my head* ....... So why didn't you just pay for it in the 1st place? I swear ppl are stupid! What would you rather pay? $10 or $500 plus have to go to court? *sighs*

GRADUATION & EARLY BEDTIME

So guess what time I went to bed last night? 9:30pm...

I don't think I've ever done that in.... decades? lol. But for the exceptions of sick days & whathave you. But, you know what I mean.

And guess what else? I completely skipped dinner! We came home from Borders & I was gonna cook dinner but then I made the mistake of laying down in my bed. haha. Next thing I know I wake up & it's 5 in the morning & I'm freaking dying of thirst. Went back to bed & didn't get up till 9am for work.

I must admit I do feel refresh & not sleepy at all today. Gonna make some more card samples so I can get my website going soon.

I read the status of my high school friends on Facebook today: "Getting my cap & gown for graduation." I'm so happy for them. Yay!!!!!! So glad they stuck with it & didn't drop out like I did. Hanh <--- Moped. lol. If I would've stuck it out I'd be graduating too. But guess life has different paths planned for different ppl. I might go back eventually but I have other endeavors that I wanna pursue right now. To each his own.

Oh yea, this is a college degree by the way. I did finish high school. Just wanted to clear that up. lol!

Love you guys,
Hanh

2009 OSCARS

Did anybody else love the Oscars as much as I did? It had to be one of the best ceremonies that I've ever seen (and I've seen every single year since I was like, 7 yrs. old)

Hugh Jackman was the best Oscar host hands down. Not only was he sexy but he was also funny & talented. His opening "number" was incredible & when he said "and I'm wolverine" I screamedddd. lol. We all love X men & Wolverine in our house.

His big medley with Beyonce was also great. I heard that alot of people were "twittering" that she was lip-singing & all this stuff. Stop hating! lol. She's performing at the Oscars & you're not. Get over it.

Steve Martin & Tina Fey were funny presenters. Ben Stiller was showing out during his presentation, putting gum on the stand & not paying attention. lol! I apparently missed the "look" that Brad & Angie gave when Jennifer Aniston was presenting. And Queen Latifah killed the song for the "In Memoriam" tribute.

My favorite thing besides Hugh Jackman was the way they had the past winners present & honor this year's nominees. That was the best change that I've seen within the Oscars itself. It was beautiful, touching & oh so appropriate. Loved it! Also loved the set design; the crystals were gorgeous.

I was really rooting for Brad Pitt to win Best Actor cuz he reallllyyyyy deserves one but I wasn't mad that Sean Penn won. He's great & it's well overdue for him too. I'm biased because I haven't seen Slumdog Millionaire but I didn't want them to win Best Picture. lol. I'm sure I'll love it once I watch it so I'm bittersweet about it.

We haven't seen The Reader but I'm sure Kate Winslet deserved the Best Actress win. She's so humble & grateful that it was good to see her get it. Benjamin Button didn't win the big awards but they won Visual Effects, Art Direction & Make up so I'm happy for the crew. They did an awesome job with the movie.

All in all, I missed parts of the show cuz I was cooking but those were my highlights. Oh, and I watched like an hour of the red carpet then fell asleep & woke back up for the main event. Here are my favorite dresses for the night:

She's always wearing the hottest dress
Beautiful origami styled dress

Angelina's dress was simple but her green jewelry was banging & made it gorgeous.
Love the design of this one
Alot of people hate this dress but I like it

HANH NEEDS YOU TO DO THIS. IT'S FUN!

I thought this was pretty funny. You should try it!

Replace my name with yours. Make sure you put quotes around "YOUR NAME needs" when you enter it into Google. Click search. List the first 10 responses...you can omit those that just don't make sense, or are REALLY vulgar.

1) Hanh needs a 3 wheel motorbike. (lol! Um... I guess so. Haven't ridden a bike since Elem. school)
2) Hanh needs an old housing problem. (Uh, no thanks)
3) Hanh needs music for healing journeys. (Amen! Music does heal)
4) Hanh needs new haven independent. (I already have it. Yay)
5) Hanh needs pics. (I sure do need to upload some from... um... last yr.?)
6) Hanh needs a little work. (hahahaha. That is true. That's a teacher evaluation for a kid in Philly by the way. She's me re-incarnated. haha. And that's so wrong how you can access that online. Dangggg. Telling that little girl's business.)
7) Hanh needs a new job. (Not unless it pays me more than $30 an hour. Otherwise I'm good)
8) Hanh needs to clean the litter box. (I don't have a cat. I need to clean my backyard though.)
9) Hanh needs to go to New Orleans monday morning. (Sure why not? Unless it's cold & rainy there.)
10) Hanh needs no introduction. (Hell yea!)

The end. That was FUNNNNN. :-D

A FAMILY TRAGEDY

"NORCROSS, Ga -- "I love my daughter. I love my daughter, but I love my wife," said 58-year-old Gold Pak. His emotions are torn for his wife of 38 years and the daughter now accused of murdering her.

Pak, his wife, two daughters and a son came here from South Korea nearly 30 years ago. All but the oldest daughter have shared a town home in Norcross for the past five years.

The yard still shows scorch marks from an unthinkable act that has devastated them all.

Tuesday afternoon the youngest daughter, Na Yong Pak, 32, doused her mother with gasoline and set her on fire. Her mother, Myong Hui Pak, 58, died of her injuries about 10 hours later.

Her family took several photos of her final moments in Grady Memorial Hospital's burn unit. They asked 11Alive News to show them to help tell their story. Specifically, to help convey her final wishes about her daughter.

Her husband says his wife was aware of what her daughter had done, but still forgave her.

"She said, 'I love Na. Don't put her in jail'," Gold Pak told me during an interview sitting on the floor of the family's town home.

He says his daughter started showing signs of mental illness about three years ago. She began beating her mother, convinced her food was being poisoned.

Pak says his wife kept the beatings a secret at first to protect their daughter, who she hoped would get better.

Police finally arrested Na Yong Pak for attacking her mother last fall. She was sent to Georgia Regional Medical Center for evaluation in early December.

The state mental hospital released her just two weeks ago over her family's objections. They didn't think it was safe for her to come home.

"That's not normal," Pak told me, insisting she should have been kept for more treatment.

Now Pak is haunted by the murder charge against his mentally troubled daughter and by his dying wife's wish that Na Yong be forgiven and get more treatment.

"I love Na," her father said. "I still love her."

State officials say privacy laws won't allow them to discuss Na Yong Pak's case. But the family admits she refused to take her prescribed medication or return for followup treatments.

The family has set up a fund to help pay their funeral expenses.

Donations may be sent to the Myong Hui Pak Funeral Fund care of The Center for Pan Asian Community Services, Inc., 3760 Park Avenue, Doraville, GA 30340, telephone number 770-936-0969."

Hanh: OH. MY. GOD... I couldn't believe this story. It devastated me as if they were my own family. There's so many factors going on. If the daughter was sane & killed her then it would be so easy to lock her up without a key. But she wasn't & now the dad doesn't want her to go to prison because that's his daughter, you know? What a complicated tragedy. I feel a trillion times so bad for them.

And the fact that the daughter started beating up on the mom 3 years ago & she kept quiet to protect her? THAT is crazy. Not trying to be culturally biased as I'm sure Americans would too, but that is definitely an Asian thing. For your parents to not call the authorities on you even if you do them harm because they don't want you to go to prison? That's definitely culture. It's also mainly because they don't want to stain their family image & feel embarrassed by their judgmental peers.

Man. I'm in such disbelief over this story. I could never imagine even arguing with my mom, let alone killing her. May God (or Buddha) watch over Myong Hui Pak & let her rest in peace. Bless her soul & bless her heart.

THE SICK, THE IRATE & THE IDIOT

I'm feeling slightly crappy today. Every single person around me is sick. Actor & his brother is sick, half of my coworkers are sick, especially the one in the cube next to me who's coming down with the flu & another one who just came back from the flu. I've been feeling a little worse everyday but refuse to acknowledge or give in to it because I REFUSE TO GET SICK. I haven't been dramatically sick in a veryyyyy long time & plan on keeping it that way. I woke up around 5am this morning just to drink some OJ cuz my throat was clogging up & went back to sleep. Like I said, refuse to get sick.

I had some Airborne but it's been in my purse for awhile & all of this lint somehow got in the bottle so I really don't wanna drink it. You know I'm anal about stuff like that. I heard about the law suit against them too. How everyone got their money back? I don't know if it's a placebo effect but I think it works. I used to take it all the time & never got sick... I heard some people are swearing by Emergen-C now so I might try it...

On another note, check this out:
"BARNSTABLE, Mass. – A Massachusetts man who walked into a police station and asked for help removing a pair of handcuffs dangling from one wrist ended up wearing another pair instead.

Police Sgt. Sean Sweeney said 21-year-old Allahmanamjad (el-ah-MAN'-a-jahd) Barbel showed up Tuesday claiming he couldn't get off the cuffs his sister slipped on him at a child's birthday party.

Police ran Barbel's name through the state warrant system and discovered he had outstanding warrants on charges of driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident, threatening to commit a crime and making annoying phone calls.

Sweeney said police removed the cuffs — then slipped on a new pair to arrest him.

They never confirmed his story about the party."

Hanh: Uh... 1st of all, did they really have to put the pronunciation of his name? haha. And what an idiot! Are you serious?! You didn't know that you had some warrants? lol! Why would you even go to the cop for that? Darwin's Law man. Darwin's Law.

And speaking of cops, here's another fun one:

"Authorities said a man, 66, was arrested after calling 911 on Saturday to complain that a fast food restaurant ran out of lemonade. After a drive-through employee failed to respond to the man's threat of contacting the police, the irate diner called 911, a police report alleges.

He spent about 5 minutes talking to the 911 operator about his complaint.

Boynton Beach said the man was charged with abuse of 911 communication."

Hanh: Aww poor man. Ya'll thought he was playing huh? He don't have time for that foolishness! He's serious bout that lemonade. Lol! Better get some more before he comes back!

2009 GRAMMYS

Happy Monday everyone!

Did anyone else see the Grammys last night? There were some hot performances weren't there? I was watching it inbetween bbq-ing outside. lol.

I didn't know until after the show that Chris Brown & Rihanna had cancelled their appearances/ performance but now everything makes sense. It's all over the news so if you haven't heard by now: they missed it cuz he got arrested for domestic violence. No one knows who the victim is but all the entertainment sources are pointing to Rihanna.

Both of them were supposed to perform but since they were MIA the schedule had to be re-arranged. Justin Timberlake & Al Green's performance was good but I could tell that it was totally unprepared like an impromptu thing. Turns out they had to fill the spot for Rihanna's performance of "Live Your Life" & "Disturbia."

I didn't care one bit about Miley Cyrus' & Taylor Swift's performance. Guess that was for the kids. Then again, how many kids are watching the Grammys? Go figure.

But oh how I loved Robin Thicke's & Lil Wayne's performance. That is my fav. male musician of the moment (RT.) I've been blasting his album over & over ever since I got it for my birthday.

And did anybody else feel extra uncomfortable when MIA was performing with the "RAP PACK?" lol. Man she was moving a little bit too much for me to be due the same day. Ugh! lol. She was all dirty looking & her hair was messed up. Much props to her though. That girl has great work ethics. Who would pass up the chance to perform with Jay, Tip, Ye & Wayne anyway? At the Grammys no less? I would have been up there too. Shoot...

And don't you kind of question why some people were there? Like Michelle Kwan? lol. What the hell were you doing there? Guess she has some musician friends... Not trying to hate but she was looking extra fobbish & her grill was all crooked when they zoomed in. You'd think with all that money you'd get your teeth fixed by now. Some people just never cease to amaze me.

To end on a good note, here are some of my favorite dresses:

Despite the too dark tan, this dress was hot. Her hair & make up was perfect too.

Love the dress but not the hair
Love dresses with these bottoms

Like the colors but not the halter top

Like the design but not the color

I dunno why she gets so much bad criticism. The dress is nice although the jewelry might be a little too much.

HAPPY FRIDAY

Happy Friday my lovely internet geeks :-)

Boy am I gladdddddddddddd it is. Whew! Long week! I'm ready to go home, relax, catch up on shows & movies & watch the Grammys this weekend. If you didn't know it's coming on this Sunday Feb. 8th at 8pm on CBS.

We watched Zack & Miri Make a Porno last night. It was funny. hahahaha. This is the 2nd movie that I've seen with Seth Rogen & Craig Robinson together. They are a trip! And Elizabeth Banks is silly & beautiful. It was a very vulgar & explicit movie but it was funny. No you couldn't actually see anything but the girl's boobies during the "shoot" if you were wondering.

I made meatloaf for the 1st time last night. It turned out pretty well besides the fact that I wanted turkey instead of ground beef. The store didn't have any so boo them.

I'm kind of exhausted so can't think of much else to say but... enjoy your weekend & I'll talk to you soon.

Hanh

25 RANDOM THINGS

You know the rules: Write your own 25 random things. Pass it along biatches!

1) I really don't know what to say so I'lll start with... my favorite flowers are calla lillies & orchids. I love any flower really. If I could get fresh flowers once every 2 weeks I'd be a happy Asian.

2) I loved my 2nd grade teacher (Ms. Moskowitz.) Never forget her. She & my P.E teacher got me really intrigued about the Holocaust. Still am. Speaking of I still gotta see Valkyrie.

3) I didn't like my 3rd grade teacher (Mrs. Kehoe.) She said I talked too much. I always got Student of the Month every year cuz my teachers loved me but she didn't give it to me that year & she told me that was the reason why. *middle finger*

4) I'm a very competitive person. Whatever I do I wanna be the best & do my best.

5) Which leads to me being a perfectionist. Half perfectionist half CSI agent. I know when people have touched my things. Even when they try to put it back like it hasn't been moved.

6) I hate when people break my things. I don't think I've ever broken anything that I had of value. I take really good care of my stuff. Destroy your own shat. Leave mine alone!

7) I'm starting to become more & more like my parents. Which is half good half bad.

8) I can cook really well & I love cooking new things. I get it from my dad. He can taste something & tell you all of the ingredients that was used to make it. Then he'll make the same dish using Viet ingredients. lol.

9) I have really good aim. Don't get caught on the other side of the trigger.

10) I think I was an assassin in my past life. And a really good one.

11) I used to be terrified of dogs. Now I love all of them. Brando's my 1st dog ever & I love him to death.

12) My biggest fear are snakes. I stepped on one barefoot when I was little.

13) I have no trouble saying no to people. I used to but I got tired of helping people who won't help themselves.

14) My lifelong goals are to win an Oscar, travel the world, have happy, healthy kids & enough money to last my family for generations so they won't ever have to struggle.

15) I hate the fact that you have to be cordial & political. If you don't like someone you shouldn't have to be nice to them. Respect & not kill them yes, but nice, ehh. And to even have to talk to them. Ugh!

16) I used to love the Spice Girls in Elem. school & decided that my American name would be Victoria. My ex sister-in-law still calls me Victoria to this day. I don't think she knows my real name.

17) I'm really good at creative arts projects. I love drawing, painting, making cards, stockings & anything else I can think of.

18) I got a tattoo in 10th grade & my mom still doesn't know that I have one. When she used to see it I'd be like "It's a sticker or henna tat." lol

19) I've dated one Asian guy in my entire life. It lasted 3 days. And I ignored him the whole time. Needless to say that didn't work out.

20) I like to see people get tased, chased, slammed & hurt. Very entertaining.

21) I say my prayers every night before I go to bed & every morning on the way to work.

22) Babies make everything better. So does a dinner & a movie

23) My 5th grade teacher Mr. Cofield looked just like Martin Luther King. He was one of my favorites.

24) I actually love my job. There's some crappy days but for the most part... The other day I walked past my coworker's cube & started running in slow motion. lol. It was fun.

25) I'm usually aware of my surroundings. My coworkers have this thing where they like to jump out & scare each other. No one's gotten me yet. I also always make a note of the exits whenever I go anywhere. Hey gotta have an escape plan in case something happens.

UNDERDOGS COULDN'T QUITE GET IT

Friday night was an uneventful night. My girls called & tried to convince me to go to the club with them to no avail. Note to friends: I hate clubs. And I don't go anywhere on Friday night unless I'm already out & about. If I've already gone home then I'm probably in for the night. There's exceptions when I'm given a heads up about an event or something but if I'm not informed until the last minute then I probably won't go. Nothing personal but I've worked hard all week & just wanna go home, relax & catch up on my shows & movies.

Saturday was fun. We got up at 12:30pm to catch the cable company (before they closed at 1pm) to switch our box for an HD box. (I haven't watched the tv since we're had it. Busy weekend...) We came home, hooked up the box & went back to sleep. haha. Woke up at about 6pm & got dressed for our friend Chocolate Chip's birthday party at a far far awayyyyy bar.

Went to Subway on our way there (we don't like to eat at bars or parties unless we know the host very well.) Boy am I glad we did. The bar was so freaking packed! Everyone & their mama was there to see Georges St. Pierre & BJ Penn fight for UFC night. Our party was big so half of us didn't even have a table at 1st. We had to wait for people to leave to get one. Then they didn't have any menus. Or glasses. lol. It was cool though. Actor got some Grand Marnier & I got a Malibu & Cran & we were straight for the night.

I love watching UFC & it was definitely popping. There were a few notables in my book: Jon Jones kicked ass with his elbow. lol. He's an upcoming beast. And the knock out of the night? Whew! Lyoto Machida should not be effed with! Knock out 1st round. Holla at him. And it was crazy cuz he's a little older & didn't look as fit as Thiago Silva but he knocked his ass out! I was waiting for it too. Whew!

And boy was the main event of the night disappointing... I thought it was gonna be a way better (and equal) fight but GSP whooped Penn's ass man. I was neutral but then started rooting for Penn cuz he was the underdog. And he just couldn't deliver or recover. He was NOT as in shape as he should've been. You're going against GSP you BETTER be in the best shape of your LIFE buddy. But he wasn't & GSP slammed him to the ground every single round & beat the shat out of him. But I gotta give Penn props cuz at least he went for 4 rounds without getting knocked out. He sure as hell has a granite chin. lol. Any other person would've been knocked out by the end of round 1.

Sunday we didn't get out of bed till like 5pm. lol. We were up but just lounging around talking & watching tv in bed. Headed to Slim's house for his youngest son's birthday party & to watch the Superbowl. All in all it was a decent game. The only fun parts were when James Harrison ran the 100 yd. interception return for the touchdown. I was going for Cardinals (underdog) but we all screamed. It was crazyyyyy. And at the end when Cardinals got that touch down. lol. But there was too much time on the clock & the Steelers definitely deserved the win so... I didn't really care either way.

We didn't really watch the commercials or the half time show; it started getting boring in the middle. Instead we turned on YouTube & was cracking up at Chris Rock's "Kill the Messenger" stand up. haha. He's a fool! I heard that everyone was disappointed that Bruce Springsteen didn't do "Born in the USA" though.

Oh yea, we missed Jennifer Hudson singing the anthem but I heard it on the radio this morning & it was great. One of the best ever done. My coworker said that he was almost in tears when she finished. And I've never seen him cry. lol

All in all this weekend in sports was kinda disappointing for me. Both the underdogs I went for lost. I guess that's why they're the underdogs. Well, keep at it & go harder next time guys. Whoo!

3 THINGS

Three people who make me laugh: Actor, Q & my coworkers

Three things I love: My fam, friends & Brando

Three things I hate: Onions, bad customer service & being rushed

Three things I don't understand: Why phone support people often have a bad accent that you can't understand. Why people ask redundant questions. Why people are still racist in 2009

Three things to describe my personality: Silly, blunt & passionate

Three things I can do: Make beautiful handmade cards, cook & draw/paint

Three things I can't do: Roll my tongue, do a split & tread water

Three things I can't leave home without: My phone, camera & Carmex

Three things I want to do before I die: Make enough money so my family won't have to work anymore, travel the world, have kids.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF?

You won the lottery: Give some money to my fam. & friends, buy stuff that I need, open some businesses & invest the rest.

You caught your BF/GF cheating you with your best friend: That'll never happen cuz they're not each other's types. But I'd shoot both of them. Not to kill, but to painfully suffer.

You saw someone hitchiking on highway: Keep driving. Sorry I don't allow strangers in my house or car.

You caught a friend stealing from you: I'd ask why. If they're just being a thief then I'd never talk to them again. If they need money or help then I'd probably help them. But warn them not to ever to that again or I'd call the cops.

You witnessed a murder: Get the hell out of there & call the cops anonymously from a location farr farrrrrr away from the scene

A random stranger offered you ice cream: Says no thanks & walk away

MySpace is closed: I wouldn't really care

You learned that there wont be internet anymore: I'd be really hurt. How else would I look up info that fast? You can't do that with books.

You found a wallet without an ID and fully loaded with $$$$: Keep it. Duhhh. There's no ID & if I turn it to the cops then they'd probably pocket it anyway.

THE GOOD BAD & UGLY

THE GOOD

~ I'm starting a home-made greeting card company. Very very very VERY excited about it. Getting all of my paperwork & samples ready right now. Trying to build my own website but if not I might hire someone to do it for me. Trying to do flash & also interactive/ build your own card kinda thing. If anyone knows anyone that is capable let me know :-)

~ Brando's getting bigger. He's almost outgrown his crate. Gotta buy him a new one soon. Everyone thinks he's huge cuz he's umm, bout 70 lbs, but he's still my tiny little ball of germs.

~ I've been working out & eating healthier with Actor. It's actually not as bad as I thought. I enjoy taking care of myself. lol

~ Saw Pineapple Express last night. It was pretty good. Funny funny.

~ Actor & his friend played the Resident Evil demo & loved it. And they're playing it over & over. lol

~ I bought the "sandalwood" candles from Target & they are officially my new scent. It smells so freaking good! Hmmmmm. And I bought the oil burner thingy & it works wonders. I mean, we had it in the living room & it made the whole ENTIRE house smell good. I'm so serious. The hallways, the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms. EVERYTHING. My clothes that I'm wearing to work today still smells like it. That's how strong it is. lol. Get some burners, they work wonders!

THE BAD

~ I'm not getting as big of a refund check as I thought I was gonna get. Ugh! Stupid taxes!

~ I have GOT to get more sleep. That's part of the whole healthy thing but I can't seem to grasp it yet. I mean, I go to sleep way earlier than Actor & Q does but somehow I still manage to get only 4-5 hours a night. Not good at all.

~ Speaking of, I almost fell asleep at the wheel trying to drive home from work yesterday. Was NOT a good look. I was literally prying my eyes open. Came home & fell out till 9 something.

THE UGLY

~ Remember the 3 traffic tickets I got a couple of months ago? Don't even ask me how much they are cuz I might slap somebody's mama. Let's just say it's not in the hundreds anymore. *steams*

HAPPY MILK DAY, well, without the I

Since it is MLK day I would like to take a moment to reflect & thank him & every other civil rights leader, past & present. Well, except for some like Jesse Jackson cuz he gets paid HOW MUCH per speech? Blah. lol. Now before you hose me I'm not judging or hating on him cuz he's done some notable things for the movement but I think he (and others) are always looking for stuff to march over so he can make a speech & get paid. There I said it, sue me.

Anyhoos, In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. the Great, I am going to list some other notable black men that I admire:

Obama - For being the 1st black (among other races) president. Go him!

Russell Simmons - For being the father of Def Jam. What else can you say?

Jay Z - For being cool & a great business man. And he's married to the hottest chick in the game.

Fiddy Cent - For staying with a fresh suit on. Love how clean he is. And he's also a great business man.

Dwyane Wade - For being a good ball player & also kinda hot. lol

Danny Glover- For making my all time favorite movies with Mel Gibson. If you don't know what movie then go smack yourself with a bat.

Will Smith - For making every movie a multi-million dollar hit. And he's still swole as hell for his age.

Tyler Perry - For becoming a billionaire by dressing as a woman. Props man props.

Morgan Freeman - For being one of my all time favorite actors.

Denzel Washington - For making every movie great. And for still pulling at his age. lol.

Sidney Poitier - For being the 1st Black man to win an Academy award for Best Actor. Also the youngest one to win at that time.

Those are all that I can think of at the moment. I feel like I'm forgetting some important names so I'll add on as I remember.

Enjoy your day! Love one love all. In the end we're all God's children.
P.S. - Oh yea, the song for the day is Robin Thicke's "Dreamworld." If you haven't heard this song yet then GO GET IT NOW!!! It captures the spirit of MLK day. And just the spirit of life period. More on him later as he is the delicious king of soul :-D

THIRD TIME'S THE CHARM

"CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Authorities are looking for a shoplifter who was run over twice by her getaway car after stealing $1,200 worth of designer purses from a Cape Coral store. A T.J. Maxx security guard told police she saw a woman stuff six designer Dooney & Bourke purses into her pants Tuesday morning and walk out of the store. The guard said she was confronting the woman when a car pulled up.

A report said the shoplifter tried to get into the vehicle but fell out and was run over by the car. She then got up and jumped onto the hood of the car. As the car was driving away, the report said the woman fell off and was run over again. On her third attempt, she finally made it into the vehicle.

Police are using the car's license plate and a check the woman dropped to track her down."

Hanh: ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!! (Rolling on the floor laughing my ass off!!!) hahahhahahaha.

I'm sorry, how the hell did she stuff 6 purses into her pants? How big was she? And how the hell you get ran over not once but TWICE by your own getaway car? lol. Somebody is FIRED!!! And she's keeping all of the sweaty, broken & thigh smelling purses for herself!

ROBBERS & A HIGH SPEED CHASE... Sounds like a Jason Statham movie.

So tell me why my parent's house got broken into? This is their 2nd break in since we've been to the states. The 1st time was when I was in elementary school.

It was a day right before my birthday last week. I was at work & my mom called & told me that she just got home & the house was in disarray. I was just about to head out of the door to go get my driver's license renewed but had to cancel & head down there.

I'm doing about 80-90 mph down the highway in a-few-minutes-before rush hour traffic & I see a cop with his lights on coming up behind me. Before I could mutter an "Oh shit!" a motorcycle flies right pass me & the cop's tailing him. My horrified "Oh shit" turned into an intrigued one as I see the motorcycle weaving in and out of lanes & basically dusting the cop. Mind you I'm in the lane right next to the HOV & the chase is going on in the HOV lane & the side ramp. The cop, seeing that he's being left behind, starts gunning his car till smoke comes out of the back & he had to have slammed some part of his car into the left wall cuz all of this debris started flying at my car. Now my window was down cuz it was warm that day.

So here I am, adrenaline already pumping to the max cuz I'm trying to hurry up & get to my parents house so I could translate for the police report & a high speed chase is going on right next to me. My heart almost flew out of my chest when I saw all of that smoke & debris coming at my car cuz I figured it would fly in my window & hit me. I braced myself but nothing happened. I dunno how but miraculously nothing hit me. I checked my car when I got to their place & it didn't have any damages on it either. Whew! God loves me :-D

Anyhoos, so the motorcycle is allllllll the way down the highway by now while the cop is still trying to merge over to the other lanes & catch up with him. And (if you know me & my crazy self) you know I was trying to follow them too. haha. Blame my intrigued news reporter at heart & action loving soul. So I'm speeding up so I can see the chase & they quickly went out of sight cuz I couldn't freaking go anywhere. By the time I got a couple of exits down I spotted the motorcycle on the exit ramp but no guy. I looked but I didn't see him anywhere. The ramp was one of those circular ones so I concluded that the motorcyclist either a) was going too fast for the turn & crashed b) stopped & ran on foot or c) was in the back of the cop's car. Judging by the sorryness of the cop it was either a or b.

Best of luck to you motorcycle guy. You were getting it for a minute.

Anyways, so I get to my parent's house & the entire place is mildly uprooted. Someone had apparently kicked the door down. The frame was completely broken & on the floor. They tossed & flipped everything everywhere. They flipped the mattresses, opened all of the cabinets & drawers, tore my dad's desk apart looking for stuff. Papers & random junk scattered all over the place.

And guess what? They didn't take anything but her jewelry & some money. Basically a kid or substance abuser who just needed cash or something small & quick that they can sell. *sigh of relief*

Well, not relief cuz I'm still pissed that someone robbed them, but at least they still got all of their stuff. I was afraid that I was gonna come to a completely empty house. I would've been devastated. So we filed the report & everything & my dad got someone to come fix the door. I swear my dad's got connections. lol. He's like the Vietnamese Godfather or something. "Someday, and that day may never come, I'll call upon you to do a service for me..." lol. I mean, anytime he needs anything done he just makes a call & someone's there immediately to get whatever he has to get done. Whether it be to fix the car, fridge or whatever. It's crazy.
My parents are fine by the way; they weren't home when it happened. My mom didn't show it but I know that she's sad that about her jewelry. She had her wedding ring & bracelet on with her so that's the only thing she's got left. They took everything else. I'm gonna buy her some new jewelry soon.

I stayed with them for a while to translate & get everything situated & left. Oh, and I hadn't had anything to eat that day either. By the time I left their place it was maybe 7pm & I was running out of fuel. lol. I got home & made myself some spaghetti.

Hmm... Spaghetti to end a long, exhausting, action-packed day.

Oh yea, by the way, criminals piss me off. If you're gonna rob somebody then rob the bank or something. Somebody big that has an adundant amount that they can afford to lose. Don't rob an older couple just because they're an easy target. You freaking punks! They don't have anything in their house but medicine, asian foods & random things that they've collected over the years & refuse to throw away anyway. Duhhh! Go get a job at a big corporation & wire 8 billion dollars to an offshore account or something. My God! If you're gonna do something then go for the gusto. Be the best at it. Stop with all of these small time crimes. Normal people are already struggling as it is. They don't need you making it worse.

Oh, and I don't condone or endorse bank robberies or crimes of any sort. Don't quote me on that. I'm not saying, I'm just saying... lol

*insert 800 curse words here that I wanted to write for this whole blog but refrained from doing*

GOLDEN GLOBES 2009

Did anyone see the Golden Globes last night? Whew! I love watching award shows because it inspires me to work harder so I can be on there one day too. I vow to be the 1st Vietnamese woman to win an Oscar... If I don't get more acting jobs here in Atlanta I'm gonna move to Cali pretty soon. Maybe in a couple of years.

But anyhoos, I missed some of it cuz I was hungry & couldn't figure out where I wanted to eat. I browsed around at Kroger for a while then decided that I wanted Subway. lol. Go figure.

Here are some personal highlights from what I did see:

FAVORITE DRESSES:

Eva Longoria

Eva Mendes

Kate Beckinsale

Megan Fox

Drew Barrymore

~ How cute was Drew Barrymore? She usually annoys me but she was so adorable with her teased hair that it made her dress (and her) look better than it actually is.

~ Never even heard of Slumdog Millionaire (shameless to say) but see that they won Best Drama picture (among other categories.) Gotta see it now.

~ I loved how people cried & were all out of breath when they found out that they won. Seems really genuine. Those are the best. They make me get all misty myself. Don't judge me!
~ Speaking of surprised winners, how the hell did Kate Winslet thank Leo Dicaprio 1st & said that she loved him & all this crap THEN thanked her husband. haha. Didn't even say that she loved him. *shame on you*

~ Mickey Rourke won Best Actor for "The Wrestler." Yay! I love him. He's so damn cool.

~ And I'm glad that Paul Giamatti won for "John Adams." Love him too.

~ "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" won for Best Musical/ Comedy picture. Gotta see that.

~ No idea who Sally Hawkins is, or most of the other female nominees for that matter. I have GOT to watch some new shows.

~ Glad that Colin Ferrell won for "In Bruges." Heard that was banging too. That's also on my "to see" list now.

~ It was a great moment for Chris Nolen ("The Dark Knight's" director) to accept a posthumous award for Heath Ledger. *sighs* We still miss him.

~ Benjamin Button was a good movie & I'm kinda disappointed that it didn't win anything, especially since I haven't seen Slumdog so I'm biased. haha. Plus I always want Brad to win. He won a Golden Globe in '96 for Twelve Monkeys but no Oscars yet. Ugh! I'm still rooting for you Brad! lol. Maybe you need me in the movie to get ya Best Motion Picture. *hint hint*

~ But him & Angelina don't care if they win or not. lol. They're Brad & Angie. Beat that biatches!

~ Looking at celebrities, don't musicians look like they're on a lower level than actors? Somehow Jay Z, Beyonce & Diddy (just to name a few) don't look as "celebrity" as A-list actors. lol. Still a different class I guess. Don't know if you get what I'm trying to say cuz it's hard to explain...

~ 30 Rock won so big! lol. I've never seen the show but I bet it's funny. Tina Fey is a trip! She's so funny & cute. And Tracy Morgan is a fool! haha.

Umm, that's about all that I can recall that's worth mentioning. It's just cool to see all of the actors from film & tv mingling with each other cuz I bet some of them haven't even seen each other face to face yet.

Golden Globes wait for me... I'll be there soon :-D
